About Our Mandir
Established on auspicious event of Dussehra 1986 (12th Oct), Shree 1008 Shantinath Jain Mandir stands as a beacon of spirituality and peace in the heart of Sabarmati. Dedicated to the 16th Tirthankar, Lord Shantinath, our mandir complex serves not just as a place of worship but as a vibrant community center for learning, charity, and cultural preservation.
Mandir History
The Shree Shantinath Jain Mandir stands as a symbol of faith, devotion, and community spirit in the heart of Ahmedabad. Envisioned as a serene spiritual sanctuary, its foundation was laid in 1982 by a group of dedicated and forward-thinking community leaders.
In 1985, the mandir witnessed its sacred Pratistha Mahotsav (consecration ceremony), celebrated with deep devotion and grandeur under the blessings of Acharya Bhagwant Shrimad Vijay. Since then, the mandir has undergone two significant renovations, thoughtfully expanding its facilities while preserving the elegance and intricacy of its marble architecture.
Today, the mandir continues to serve as a peaceful place of worship, reflection, and spiritual connection for devotees.
1984
“Shri Digamber Jain Samaj Sabarmati Trust” founded on 21/6/1984 by five trustees: Shri Jayantilal P Shah, Shri Champakbhai Shah, Shri Padamchand Sogani, Shri Omprakash B Jain, and Shri Dhankumar L Jain.
1985
Mandir land (273 sq. meters) purchased in Sabarmati, Ahmedabad for Rs. 1,50,000.
1986
Shri 1008 Shantinath Bhagwan’s idol formally installed in the newly built mandir with blessings of Shri 108 Veerasagar Ji Maharaj. The idol was brought from Shree 1008 Ajitnath Digambar Jain Mandir, Shahpur.
1998
Trust renamed to “Shree 1008 Shantinath Digamber Jain Mandir Trust.” Registered on 9/8/1998 with new trustees: Shri Dhankumar L Jain (President), Shri Omprakash B. Jain, Shri Padamchand Sogani, Shri Champaklal Shah, and Shri Dineshchand Shah. New idols commissioned from Jaipur.
1999
Bedi Pratishtha Mahotsav held (5–7 February). Trust officially registered with Charity Commissioner, Ahmedabad (Reg. No. E/12180).
2003
Shri Tarunsagar Ji Maharaj visited the mandir and delivered pravachan at Sabarmati.
2005
Shri Champakalalji Shah passed away (11/5/2005). Shri Sukhanandji Gangwal appointed as trustee.
2011
Shikhar (spire) construction commenced on 21 July. Foundation stone laid on 25/8/2011 by Pandit Shri Deepchand Jain (Tikamgadh).
2012
Shikhar Pratishtha Mahotsav celebrated on 21–23 December, consecrated by Shri Jineshji Malaiyaji (Indore).
2019
Shri Dhankumar Ji Jain, founding trustee and longtime president, passed away on 25/10/2019.
